Some topics are either almost or exactly identical in scope, for example Mathematics, Mathematics, and Math, along with the Trump, Donald Trump, and MAGA-land.

Ideally these topics should be combined to make it easier for people to find related questions. Will Manifold be able to do this by the end of 2024?

This question resolves to YES if, before 00:00 UTC on January 1, 2025, functionality is added to allow users (may be limited to certain users such as "trustworthy-ish" users or site administrators) to merge topics, such that all questions added to any of the merged topics appears in a single topic. (Links to the previous topics may or may not be valid after the merge.) Otherwise, this question resolves to NO.

This functionality must be added to the site, or alternatively as "backend" functionality accessible only to administrators so long as admins take requests from users (on Discord for example). The spirit of this requirement is that non-admins must be able to participate in the process somehow, even if it is only in the form of making requests to the admins.

I will use my own judgment to determine if any particular functionality counts for YES resolution.

I may provide liqudity subsidies but will not otherwise trade in this question.

This was recently announced on the Discord server:

Site moderators are now able to rename and delete topics. They can only delete topics if there are no markets tagged with it. the intended use is to correct duplicate groups by retagging and deleting, or to remove spam.

I think this technically counts for a YES resolution. This has the same result, that is, all questions added to any of the topics being merged will appear in a single topic, and links to the previous topics need not remain valid. The intent is the same as well.

Still, this isn't exactly what I had in mind when I wrote this question (I imagined an automated process to combine all questions into a single topic), so I will leave this open for about a week to hear any objections.

Edited the title and description to use "topics" since apparently that's what they're being called now.
