Imagine a hypothetical market:

In course of a civil lawsuit the text of the relevant agreement is produced and it includes the following text:
"An employee cannot be eligible for any financial bonuses unless they irreversibly transfer the ownership of their immortal soul to the company"

The judge hovever ruled that as immortal souls aren't recognized as transferrable property this clause is legally void.

Private conversation made available in discovery indicated however that neither Satn's management nor the employees were aware of that legal fact and all parties expected the clause to be legally binding.
