Background

Delcy Rodríguez is a Venezuelan lawyer and vice president (since 2018) who became acting president of Venezuela after the U.S. abduction of Nicolás Maduro on January 3, 2026. She has a long history of representing the socialist 'revolution' of late President Hugo Chávez. She served as communication and information minister from 2013 to 2014, foreign minister from 2014 to 2017, and as head of a pro-government Constituent Assembly in 2017.
