For context, Model UN stands for Model United Nations:
It's mostly a high school activity
Basically a simulation of the real United Nations where students, called "delegates" are each assigned a country to represent (roleplay...)
For each conference, a group of "delegates" (there are often hundreds of delegates per group) are assigned a topic to adress
They prepare papers, speeches, etc. about their country's stance on a certain topic
Each conference can span days and the delegates debate the topic which culminates in countries coming together and forming a resolution
There are often multiple blocks of countries
It's a pretty large thing. During the National High School Model UN, 3000-5000 students from all over the world go. Last year Kamala Harris was a speaker at the one held in New York.
