"Theft of Fire" by Devon Eriksen

"Stories of Your Life and Others" is a great collection of sci-fi short stories published in 2002 by Ted Chiang. It includes "Story of Your life", which inspired the film "Arrival". Chiang also published "Exhalation" in 2019, which is another great story collection.
