Turkey Point has an approved combined construction and operating permit to build two AP1000 units at Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Station Combined License Holders For New Reactors | NRC.gov
With Vogtle units 3 and 4 online there has been renewed interest in building more of this design. Remarks as Delivered by Secretary Jennifer M. Granholm on Startup of Vogtle Unit 4 and Growth of U.S. Nuclear Industry | Department of Energy

This question is asking if Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) (or their parent company NextEra Energy) will officially announce its intention to begin construction of one or both of these AP1000 units in the calendar year 2024. I will resolve this based on official company or government announcements.

With all the hurricanes recently hitting Florida (financial impacts effecting strategy) and that it’s already October… 2025 or 2026 seems much more likely. (Maybe 20% this year)
This is not my wheelhouse but it does seem they are interested in pursuing nuclear as the demand for more baseload energy will only grow so they should announce it in the next 3-4 years given long lead times for these types of construction projects. It also might make sense to wait a year or two to see how the units in Georgia work out and for an analysis of such.
After skimming the Q3 earnings transcript (https://www.fool.com/earnings/call-transcripts/2024/10/23/nextera-energy-nee-q3-2024-earnings-call-transcrip/) I see no indication for 2024:
"Nuclear plants across the country are already serving existing demand. So even if they are contracted by specific customers, new resources need to be built to meet new demand. And alternatives such as new utility-scale nuclear and SMRs are unproven, expensive, and again, not expected to be commercially viable at scale until the latter part of the next decade. Turning to gas, when it comes to gas power generation, nobody has built more over the last two decades in NextEra Energy."
I take the AP1000 to be included in that "new utility-scale nuclear" comment.
I also found this support for post 2024 ...

"
FPL has paused the decision whether to seek FPSC approval to move forward with construction of Turkey Point Units 6 & 7. FPL intends to incorporate into any decision regarding Turkey Point Units 6 & 7 the experience gained from the construction and operation of Georgia Power’s nuclear units at its Vogtle site. As a result, the earliest possible in-service dates for Turkey Point 6 & 7 are beyond the ten-year period addressed in this 2024 Site Plan. This Site Plan continues to present the Turkey Point location as a Preferred Site for nuclear generation as indicated in Chapter IV.
"
Given those plants have been only operating for ~ a year, this seems to indicate they will wait at least another year or two to get a better idea of realistic operating costs and problems before deciding.
