How are you creating markets without an account balance?

@MichaelWheatley BTE has been given a special privilege by being able to create markets without spending mana on creation of markets.

@seconduserhere The code is literally something like:

(if balance is >=50 || if user_id matches BTE's) allow creation

@MichaelWheatley Indeed that is correct. I believe it was determined that if I lost the ability to make new markets it would pose an existential threat to Manifold’s survival. That’s just what I heard…

@seconduserhere It’s not true that I don’t spend mana, every market I have created today has put me deeper into negative balance. So no change. Otherwise I shouldn’t be able to get unique trader bonuses.

@BTE perhaps the period you were provided the privileges for has expired? should check back in the original thread

@MichaelWheatley Also I am probably gonna create 150 a day since it’s the only thing I can do now. On the plus side I am apparently a better trader when I can’t trade than when I can based on my early league performance.

@seconduserhere You mean the free market creation? I was under the impression that was always a misunderstanding of what James did which was tell the system to ignore the command to verify I have a positive balance before deducting 50.
