@IsaacKing @Isaacking2 why are you using an alt account to violate the Community Guidelines by jacking up the prices here?!?
Is this not blatantly against the rules?
@mattyb I think he's just betting with an alt because his main has a negative balance. I'm doing the same thing.
@Mira is that not a violation of guidelines? how is this different from spinning up an alt army to give you 500M referral bonuses?
@mattyb well he did that too. but generally the referral bonuses don't matter compared to giving Manifold thousands of dollars and markets. They're mostly just a separate wallet for isolation, not a source of free money. (though there is embedded options value in account isolation, but seemingly nobody except me can see it as a legible reason)
@mattyb Yeah we're both betting LOWER on this market /levifinkelstein/whats-the-average-iq-of-active-mani
@Mira if an alt army is fine, and it’s cool to transfer money back-and-forth between a legion of accounts, then this par for the course.
@mattyb They'd probably ban and fine you if it was a "legion" or "alt army". But you could make "Mattyb2" and try different trading strategies on it or write a bot.
@Mira i’ve got @breezybot but don’t use him as a bank. good to know if i’m strapped for cash, i can make a finite number of alts to get me right back in it.
I hope I never need to, as I try different strategies with my main account (this’ne) all the time :)
Seems likely you lost the badge for non-existential-threat reasons and won’t get it back in 2024 partly because you’re actively working on a manifold competitor (not that a competitor is an existential threat to manifold; the network effects are decently strong). would that make this resolve YES, NO, N/A, or are you unsure
@TheBayesian Manifold has actively encouraged people to build competitors, so I don't think that's a factor at all.
@IsaacKing I think this probably happened already. It’s the best explanation for why I was treated so punitively for being a moderator on a controversial market that I happened to have been vindicated on with time. There was no Hamas command center under the hospital and the comments I hid were clearly misrepresentations bordering on IDF propaganda.
@BTE That's nonsense. Manifold told you you were welcome to copy their entire codebase for your competitor, they clearly don't feel threatened. I don't approve of the way they handled removing your badge, but it was very obviously not about you being an existential threat to the platform, it was just a personal dislike of your behavior.
Just leaving this here...

@BTE WTF? It doesn't make me update a lot on the "existential threat" part of your question, but does severly reinforce my "manifold is dying" prior
@epiphanie_gedeon It’s new information that I have a difficult time making sense of, well other than the way it was resolved. No heads up or “hey what’s this about” or anything. I don’t think that would have happened like it did before I started talking about starting a competitor.
@BTE Yes, that is fair. This kind of markets is a bit hard to judge because it hinges on counterfactuals we can't access.
In any case, the fact they didn't even bother asking you or on the discord before making any conclusion is a huge red flag (and a lack of understanding that all markets are action markets)
Needs more information/assurance. Are you going to rule "existential threat" as the reason regardless of contrary statements if you do lose it? Would you be willing to have another user resolve this market instead of you as an assurance?
@Haws Can you fill me in on what’s happening? I’m very confused. Why would anyone be an existential threat to manifold?
@Hello BTE is either considering launching or joining a competitor to Manifold. I think he has some grievances about how this site is ran. That is my surface level understanding tho.
