ChatGPT costs around $0.002 per 1,000 tokens, or about 750 words. This means that just ChatGPT costs around $700k/day to run, assuming a constant usage rate of 350 billion tokens per day.
Considering how fast it needs to grow, the current cost of capital, and how much people tend to “get addicted”, I think it's plausible to limit some features in order to push customers to pay 20 bucks.
I don't think they will do that, but 20% chance seemed kinda low.

@PatrickLD that price per 1k tokens is the sale price not the cost to open ai. You make valid points about how costly the inference is but even if it were to be restricted usage, i doubt it would be as low as just 5 or less PER DAY.
