Will we get in the pod and eat the bugs?

inspired by the meme:

Will a significant population of humans live in pods and eat bugs by 2060?

The above is the spirit of the question, but that makes it hard to resolve. So I'll define some terms below.

  1. Significant: 10,000,000 or more.

  2. Pod: a very small living space by 2023 standards, less than 100 square feet for the whole "apartment". A single room essentially only for sleeping and maybe working from (while sitting on the bed). This pod would definitely not have a kitchen, and may share a bathroom with other pods on the same floor/have external centralized laundry services.

  3. Eat bugs: They don't do this because it's like a fun exotic thing to do. They have to get a significant portion of their dietary calories from bugs, most likely in the form of protein.

Additionally I want to apply the additional requirements that I feel is in the spirit of the question. The people doing this have to be doing it not from some poverty stricken desperation. For example if there is a hypothetical refugee crisis and 10 million people end up living in horrible conditions and are forced to eat bugs to survive that doesn't count. The spirit of this question is more like if this pod living and bug eating is happening in Manhattan or something similar.

Honestly these pods look kinda crappy. Well built pods would have better sound insulation, would probably be made out of something like insulated concrete. Also, $700/month is way too much, they are charging exorbitant rates because it's a novel thing but it doesn't really make sense why it would be that expensive.

I bet $200/month well built pods are still more than possible and as we start to see more competition in this space it'll trend in that direction.

Most people will probably eat the bugs (Not me though, I aim to elevate myself into a financially secure enough position so that I can sustain myself on the finest biologically grown steaks should I choose so) and quite a lot of people will have to get in the pods due to increasing woes in the real estate market.
However, both groups will probably have a rather low overlap as bug-eating will probably take place in more poorer regions and pod-living in richer urban centers. But I am confident that, until 2060, there will be enough overlap in these groups to resolve the question as YES"

@zzlk how so?

@Sodra I can speak only for myself but here's the plan:

  1. Wait for enough NO holders.

  2. Place a large order for YES.

  3. Make it big in British politics.

  4. Enact martial law.

  5. Enforce pod-living and bug-eating to save resources for the lads in the Army.

  6. Extract mana via the (until now highly effective) charity wing of my political party.

  7. Retire on my winnings.

@fwbt It's my understanding that winnings go to charity. Setting that issue aside, locusts and grasshoppers.
