In December 2024, videos and photos of two previously unknown tailless stealth combat aircraft emerged on Chinese social media: a large triple-engine design (unofficially called the Chengdu J-36) and a smaller twin-engine design (unofficially called the Shenyang J-50 or J-XDS). These are widely assessed by Western analysts as "sixth-generation" fighter prototypes.

As of March 2026 the Chinese government, Ministry of National Defense, and PLA have issued no official statements, names, specifications, or confirmations about these specific aircraft.

This market resolves on whether the Chinese government provides an official public acknowledgment of these new stealth jet models (or the associated sixth-generation program) before 2027.

Resolution

The market resolves YES if, at any time on or before 31 December 2026, there is clear, verifiable evidence that the Chinese government has publicly and explicitly acknowledged the existence or development of these specific new stealth fighter prototypes. Acceptable evidence includes:

- An official statement or press briefing from the Ministry of National Defense spokesperson.

- A PLA announcement (e.g., in PLA Daily or official channels) naming the aircraft or confirming their testing/role.

- A report published directly by Xinhua, CCTV, or other official state media that explicitly confirms and describes the new models (not just hints, stock footage, "ginkgo-leaf" imagery, or “what’s next?” teases).

- Public unveiling or display by the PLA (e.g., airshow, parade) with official details about these aircraft.

Evidence must come directly from official PRC government/military channels (Ministry of National Defense websites, PLA Daily, Xinhua, CCTV state broadcasts, official Weibo/WeChat accounts, etc.). Reports from foreign or independent media (Reuters, SCMP, etc.) do not count on their own, they only serve as supporting context if they are quoting or embedding an official PRC source verbatim
Acknowledgment of either design (J-36 or J-50) is sufficient for YES.

The market resolves NO otherwise (including leaks, social-media videos, subtle state-media teases, or foreign government/analyst claims).
