Something very much resembling the current situation where the supplementary info has been removed and maybe the author's reputation has worsened but the article is mostly available and not listed as "retracted"

The study has had its supplementary information removed for """ethical reasons""", and there is a notice that it is under investigation. Supposedly the paper has been retracted, though I don't see them write so explicitly, and the paper is fully available, so I am somewhat confused about what that means.

Resolves once the long-term situation is clearer.

This looks like "Full retraction" but I guess we'll wait a while before resolving in case something changes. It probably doesn't tho.

As far as I can tell, this is an "everyone on all sides is a terrible person" situation. The study is bad and arguably dishonest, but not in the way it was critiqued for. The critique is obviously ideologically driven and many of the critics seem clueless. The retraction reason makes no sense because of course the parents want their answers published. I don't really know what I should conclude from this.
