It's my birthday today so...

I’m Jewish, I don’t celebrate Easter and the Jewish trans day of visibility is the 16th of Adar which falls on a different day every year.

@benshindel is that one of those observances that's just one day in Israel but two in the Diaspora?

@BrunoParga Trans people in the diaspora have to come out twice (once within their community and once to the public), this checks out

@BrunoParga the Mishnah is unclear about this

I didn’t know there was a transgender day

@thepurplebull there's also trans history week and trans awareness week

The Feast of Saint Gregory Palamas.

While this is stunningly tone-deaf on Biden's part, I admit that with 26 international and 11 US-specific so-called "LGBT awareness periods", which include two whole months five whole weeks, the probability of collisions is quite high.

@admissions wait why is this tone deaf?

To keep the willfully ignorant in check, TDoV is always March 31st, it just happens to land on a Sunday and thus line up with Easter this year. It also happens to be the 25th anniversary of The Matrix!

@beepbooper it lining up with Easter is quite rare – since Christianity runs on a lunisolar calendar, there are 35 possible dates.

(I'm only partially trolling – Christianity does not generally run on lunisolar, with Christmas being purely solar, of course. But Easter – and a host of other smaller Christian dates calculated in relation to it – does follow a lunisolar calendar.)
