This market is about whether I will do specific chores in my home every day (*with a few exemptions) from today, 12 February 2025, until 31 December 2025. It serves as a commitment device to help me maintain a consistent cleaning routine while allowing flexibility for comfort and unforeseen circumstances.
Rules:
Baseline Rule:
On days when I am at home, I must do chores for a minimum of 20 minutes if I start before 11 a.m. and 25 minutes if I start after 11 a.m.
Joker Rule:
Doing chores for 45 minutes on a single day earns me a joker. Jokers can be used to skip future days.
Multiple jokers can be earned on a single day by doing chores in increments of 45 minutes.
Exemptions:
If I am physically ill or injured, the daily minimum is reduced to 0–20 minutes, depending on severity.
If I do not spend the day at home, or in case of unforseen emergencies, or major life events which affect my ability to fulfill these conditions, no rules apply.
Additional Notes:
"Specific chores" refers to activities that make my surroundings look better such as tidying, cleaning, making the bed, but also renovating, redecorating and doing the laundry. Other activities such as cooking or grocery shopping are not included.
I'm starting this market with a broken elbow. Rule 3 applies until I can use my left arm again.
