After the rapid proliferation of ESG proposals over the last few years, companies are now muting their focus on ESG and DEI initiatives as anti-woke activists attack companies for their progressive stances.

This year shareholders have voted on 70 measures opposing traditional ESG initiatives at S&P 500 companies. This is up from 30 in 2022 and 7 in 2020.

Anti-ESG proposal growth outpaced that of other categories tracked by ISS this year.
