In light of the recent, massive 16B password leak, I think it's finally time to tackle this issue. I hate password management. I am asking for your help:
I want a convenient, centralized way of managing my dozens of logins to different websites, accounts, devices etc etc. Will give out a bounty of up to 5k mana for an ideal solution to this issue, and lesser bounties for any other recommendations that make my life easier.
1password works perfectly. Every time I use a new website, 1password suggests me a very very strong and random password. It will also automatically store this password if you choose to use the one it suggested. The only thing you need to remember is your master password which is used to unlock 1 password. You don't need to worry about having your master password leaked because every time you log onto 1password from a new device, it asks you to log in with BOTH a secret key and your master password. A secret key is a very long string of characters, symbols and numbers that is intended to protect your account and is nearly impossible to hack. I think the only downside for 1password is that its not free. Here's the link if you want to learn more: https://1password.com
@ZandaZhu also if you’re a developer it gives you a lot of very nice utilities to make life easier, like a ssh key agent which will use the url field in the password manager to choose your key, command line tools for credential injection etc
I use Bitwarden. Any remotely hosted password manager has additional attack surface beyond self-hosting, but I’m not in a position to self host at this time: https://bitwarden.com/blog/host-your-own-open-source-password-manager/
Bitwarden has clients for mobile and computers.
