Resolves YES if PBS NewsHour airs on broadcast television on Friday, December 31, 2027 in the United States. Resolves NO if PBS NewsHour does not air on this date.
If the NewsHour becomes a new show with a different name, but largely the same staff, content structure, and editorial leanings, and still airs on PBS on this date, this will resolve as YES.
Some reasons this may resolve NO:
PBS is defunded or eliminated and the NewsHour stops airing
PBS NewsHour, or the entire PBS network, moves to streaming only, and doesn't air on broadcast television
PBS NewsHour is cancelled for any reason
PBS NewsHour stops airing on Fridays even if it airs other days of the week
PBS is sold off to the private sector and major structural changes are imposed by its new owners (including name changes)
PBS NewsHour or PBS entirely is blacked out in protest
New management at PBS NewsHour makes the show unrecognizable even if the name is retained (the changes would have to be very extreme to count if they don't include a name change)
An EMP has shut down telecommunications infrastructure and no broadcast television is airing
AI has paperclipped the Earth already
This question can be considered a proxy for federal defunding of PBS, or major structural changes that make the show unrecognizable. But there are other reasons it may not air and I will try to resolve as honestly as possible.
