Antoine Fuqua is directing a Michael Jackson biopic starring Michael’s nephew. Will the movie depict Michael Jackson as a white man at any point?

Resolves as N/A if the film is officially cancelled by the studio. The market continues on even if Fuqua leaves the project, and will extend as needed.

For reference, this is a picture of Michael Jackson from 1993:

We got our first write-up on the movie from CinemaCon. They may be stopping the timeline before he bleached his skin fully.

King said the filmmakers had tried to “find the untold version of the story.”

“Michael Jackson was an enigma, full of eccentricities and … talent,” he said. He also was “simply a man who lived a very complicated life. The movie will get into all of it including over 30 songs spanning his career … his life on stage and his life out of the public eye.”

In voice-over, a grown-up Jackson says of performing: “It transports your entire being. That’s what I want the world to feel like — magic.”

Some of the footage shown to the exhibitor crowd today at the Caesars Colosseum appears to take place during the Off the Wall era as well as that of Bad — “Man in the Mirror” is a key song heard throughout. We also see the pop singer’s nephew Jaafar Jackson performing onstage as the King of Pop. At one point, his voice-over says, “When I’m not on stage, everything feels foreign to me.”

Can you give a definition of “white”?

@Dynd Sure, I’ll resolve this YES if one of the following happens:

  1. At any point in the film, the character of Michael Jackson is played by a caucasian actor.

  2. The film depicts Michael’s skin lightening to a significant degree: from vitiligo and/or cosmetic procedures.

This would mean the movie covers Michael into the 90s, post-Bad tour, and either pre, or during, the Dangerous tour; and Fuqua (or whomever the filmmaker is) choosing to show Michael’s cosmetic changes.
