Beyoncé is releasing a 3-part album series, which has included the following entries:
Renaissance (2022)
Cowboy Carter (2024)
What will be true about Act III? Add any answers relevant to the album.
Market will extend as needed.
I'm thinking about how Cowboy Carter was supposed to be Act 1, making Renaissance the subversive cocoon phase in some thematic chrysalis where the beginning is country/folk/gospel/rock, the second is disco/counterculture and the third to be some kind of synthesis / reconcilliation, or Cambrian divergence. Hence I'm inclined to think jazz/blues is one obvious description of what Act 3 may primarily be, since we are already in the sonic post-abundance wasteland of genres not meaning so much anyway. I'm watching her Cowboy Carter tour right now and like Renaissance her live band has the texture of great musicians having fun (like she does, switching up harmonies on a dime and just having fun with the moment). Her virtuosity begs for her to lean into the dynamism of a smaller, "traditional" jazz setup but of course the rhythm and danceability pulls in the opposite direction. So curious what it ends up being! There are so many collabs and covers I'd love to see - more Miley Cyrus, covers of more iconic acts like Queen, Micheal Jackson, Joni Mitchell. Hoping also for a chunky setlist to hold all that!
