Are police sweeps more beneficial than they are detrimental?

Yes

Doing this for an English project. Topic for this project is how police sweeps affect the homeless population and the city/location they reside in. Using this poll to get data on the general public's opinion on whether or not police sweeps are necessary (ie, whether or not they need to remain in the system)

EDIT: changed from "Are police sweeps necessary" to " Are police sweeps more beneficial than they are detrimental" to fit the original intention of the English project. Sorry for any misunderstanding caused by the original wording. "Beneficial" and "detrimental" apply to anyone directly affected to by the sweeps themselves (police officers, the homeless, nearby shop owners, etc), members of the community wherein the sweeps take place (residents, students, parents), OR people that have a 'stake' in the community (HOA, landlords, local politicians). The level of relevancy of affected groups is up to you.

Necessary for what?

@PaulBenjaminPhotographer the general public (ie the community wherein the sweeps take place)

@jousting do you mean 'beneficial'?

Otherwise the answer is obviously 'no' as the public would not cease to exist if the police stopped doing sweeps.

@PaulBenjaminPhotographer yeah, probably closer to "more beneficial than detrimental" now that I think about it

It should be fine to change the title of the poll to clarify this right?

There is absolutely nothing general about the public on here!
