@JimHays I agree mostly but my first thought was “Well it already happened once in 2000” — if a stricter definition of “contest” is to apply then 2000 clearly wouldn’t count.

Perhaps we should establish what interpretation will be used if the creator never returns. To me, the straightforward reading of the question is the first interpretation, but it seems like other people must be betting on the second.

I’ll note here that the close date seems to support my interpretation slightly. If this were merely about running and winning, there’s less motivation to set the close date so much later than the election
