MERC IS ANNOYING, CRINGE, AND DUMB ASF. DO YOU THINK SHE WILL STILL BE AN ORBITER AT THE START OF OCTOBER?
@jime88f i thought this site was about making assumptions on future events, not on your resolving criterias
@Thunderstar destiny said in chat she no longer has discord perms and isnt interested in being on stream (wants to do her own thing)
Ngl kinda annoying cringe and dumb for @jime88f not to post resolving criteria or engage with the comments
She hasnt been on stream since she unfriended Destiny. Destiny will now be travelling untill the end of the month, so hard to see her coming back/have a possibility of coming back before this market closes. Hard to see this more than 10% chance to be back in the orbit by the end of the month, but dont personally have the funds 🤷♂️.
@Dennis5a87 on her stream yesterday with chaery, she said they they are cool again. she flashed her discord dms a few times, and u can see that she's still in talks with destiny. she said on stream, people call her an orbiter, she said she isnt an orbiter, and she also said whatever it doesnt even matter.
I think she even said the same in the talk with nosoerudite a few days ago
so what does that even mean??? lol. plus no resolving conditions for this market
@higherLEVELING True, there are no resolving conditions for this market.
Let's compare this to the Ana situation if you will. Destiny was still sexting her for a year on the down low for his reasons. During that time period, would you consider her an orbiter?
@MagniorBjornsson during that time period, when she would have streams that would end up being her arguing with her mods and would be mainly focused on destiny with people coming onto her stream talking about destiny and the dgg universe? uh. yeah id say she was.
@MagniorBjornsson it seems like without a concrete definition or resolving condition, this is just too vague
@higherLEVELING I agree that it's vague but I don't think it's too vague.
I believe orbiter implies more direct and open interaction with the Dman.
Hasan is never defined as a current orbiter. Neither is Vaush. Zherka is not currently an orbiter and neither is Fuentes. During that Ana time period it's more debatable. Because while D did not have her on stream and had a policy against dealing with her he broke that repeatedly and also was actively trying to understand and help with her situation towards the end. Ana is the edge case. I highly doubt Merc will reach a similar edge.
i don't think there are fundamental meanings to individual words, it's all just relations, and usually contextual relations when we're discussing specific things. In a normal context of purposeful language use, I'd accept both calling aba an orbiter in the context of destiny's social scene and calling him a non-orbiter because he has his own show and platform. Just like an acquaintance might or might not be a 'friend' in a conversation depending on the threshold of intimacy the situation requires, there's no absolute level or list of friends. But prediction markets untether words from aforementioned uses into a pure competition, so I don't think there's an answer to that.
How tall does a plant have to be before it's a tree?
I think merc is not an orbiter as things stand.
from wikipedia:
In botany, a tree is a perennial plant with an elongated stem, or trunk, usually supporting branches and leaves. In some usages, the definition of a tree may be narrower, including only woody plants with secondary growth, plants that are usable as lumber or plants above a specified height. In wider definitions, the taller palms, tree ferns, bananas, and bamboos are also trees.
Trees are not a monophyletic taxonomic group but consist of a wide variety of plant species that have independently evolved a trunk and branches as a way to tower above other plants to compete for sunlight. The majority of tree species are angiosperms or hardwoods; of the rest, many are gymnosperms or softwoods. Trees tend to be long-lived, some reaching several thousand years old. Trees have been in existence for 370 million years. It is estimated that there are around three trillion mature trees in the world.
my specific point is that the definition depends on the usage, as we see here.
@jacksonpolack im not a tree expert, i just think it's going to get messy if there arent any concrete defintions. i see what you mean, i just think it's going to be super annoying for everyone to assume that there are no real definitions out there.
i'd be fine with 'is she in the discord' or 'does she do content with destiny another time before the end of the month'
@jacksonpolack Although the definition of an orbiter might be a bit loose I think as long as there is any contact between the two I think this pretty much resolves YES. We've got people who come around on stream once in three months that are still referred to as orbiters.
