This market resolves to my official GPA at the end of my first quarter of grad school. I will provide a (censored) screenshot of my unofficial transcript as proof.
I will bet YES on "4.0" and NO on "3.3 to 3.49" and "Below 3.3" as incentive for myself, but otherwise won't bet on this market.
Additional context
This quarter, I'm taking two classes that are graded and two that use a "Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory" grading system; the latter won't affect my GPA, as far as I'm aware. I think both classes are ones that I could get an A in:
One is an introduction to graduate-level research in geography; I feel very confident in my ability to excel in that class.
The other is an introduction to graduate-level statistical analysis in environmental science; I feel pretty confident, but I'm also somewhat out of practice with statistics. FWIW, my GPA across all statistics classes I took in undergrad was a 4.0.
My GPA in undergrad was a 3.94; in the classes I completed for my geography minor and GIS minor, it was a 4.0. (It was close to a 4.0 in the classes I completed for my political science major, but I got one A- in a poli sci class - IIRC, it ended up around 3.97 or something like that.)
There is no way to get a GPA higher than 4.0 at my university, as far as I'm aware. I have gotten more than 100% in a few classes (thanks to doing extra credit that I didn't have to do) and all were still entered as "A - 4.0" in the system.
My university uses the following system:
A = 4.0
A- = 3.7
B+ = 3.3
B = 3.0
B- = 2.7
etc.
This quarter ends on December 15, and final grades must be posted by December 21.
Possible combinations for each multiple choice option:
4.0: A, A
3.7 to 3.99: A, A- (3.85) or A-, A- (3.7)
3.5 to 3.69: A, B+ (3.65) or A, B (3.5) or A-, B+ (3.5)
3.3 to 3.49: A, B- (3.35) or A-, B (3.35) or B+, B+ (3.3)
Below 3.3: All other combinations
@evergreenemily (There are still several large assignments and exams to complete, but I'm off to a strong enough start that I'd REALLY need to fuck up to tank my grades in either class.)
