I’m planning on running a half marathon with friends on July 20.
I’m near my athletic prime, in decent shape, and lift often, but I don’t run. We plan on doing some shorter practices leading up to the event, and I will post updates as they come.
Resolves no if I don’t sign up
I’m happy to answer any questions :)
Will I make it?

@traders i ran 9 miles yesterday in 1:28 hr. felt mid, started to hurt a bit at the end. seeing how i recover. the event has a long time limit so i think i can definitely finish if i register. only difference is it's very early in the morning. we'll see if i sign up in a couple days.
Good job, you got this! I hope you go through with the race because it sounds like you’re putting in a lot of time and hard work into training. It would be a shame to let it all go to waste. Running a half marathon is a big accomplishment in itself but more importantly you decided to try something new that is physically and mentally challenging so you should be proud of yourself. Remember pain and discomfort is only temporary but the satisfaction you will get when you cross the finish line and complete the challenge you set out to is something you will have with you forever.
@traders update: I ran 6 miles this weekend. I felt much better afterward than when I did 3 miles last time. The plan is to do 9 miles next weekend, then the half marathon the week after. There’s 3 or 4 of us participating now. We haven’t decided to register yet, the latest we can do so is the 17th.
@traders Update: we went to run about 3 miles yesterday. It took me just under 30 minutes. I felt ok, bit sore. One of my friends quit halfway. We’ll continue doing longer practice runs. If all my friends quit, I’ll probably quit
