NO

At the opening of this market (2023-12-16), HIBIKE lists 10 stations on its map in the district of South Hilo (screenshot below). At any time before the end of 2024, will there be more than 10 stations shown on its official map?

Terms

  • "HIBIKE" is Hawai'i Island Bike Share, whose current website is at https://www.hawaiiislandbike.com/ (will be updated if the name of the organization changes or if it is acquired or merges with another agency)

  • "Hilo" is the district of South Hilo in the County of Hawaii. Note that the district is larger than the area depicted in the screenshot above, although the area shown has the highest population density

  • "2024" shall be the year ending 2024-12-31 23:59 in the Hawaiian time zone

  • "Official map" shall be the map at the following URL or a successor URL, unless I have strong reason to believe it's displaying incorrect information. https://www.hawaiiislandbike.com/map/

  • "Station" shall count any station of any type that is at least 50 meters away from another station. This is to address the anticipation that HIBIKE will soon add electric bikes to its service and they may have separate stations that are co-located with existing stations for non-electric bikes. If multiple stations are located within 50 meters straight-line distance, they shall be counted as one station.

Resolutions

  • YES if at any time in 2024 there are 11 or more stations displayed on the official map.

  • NO if the number at the end of the year is 10 or less.

  • NO if HIBIKE ceases to operate entirely or in the Hilo area.

  • N/A or PROB will only be used if something unanticipated happens

Note: I will bet in this market. I'm a resident of the area and a customer of HIBIKE but not otherwise affiliated with them.
