God appeared to me in a dream and told me 2025 could be a big year for jazz. Defined subjectively entirely by me. But thinking something along the lines of either

1) An increase in the discussion / popularity of jazz of a similar magnitude to that of country in the past few years,

2) Multiple jazz albums rank very highly on the end of the year lists of RYM or pitchfork, to the point where it feels (to me) like there has been a big move towards jazz,

3) Multiple jazz albums come out that I personally like a lot and rank somewhere in the top albums of the year for me, or

4) An increase in jazz influences in other genres that somehow "matches" the effect of any of the above

Good year for jazz rap, not a great year for jazz. There were a few good albums I heard (The Necks - Disquiet, and Hiromi's Sonicwonder - Out There, if you count Jazz Fusion). The only album that I've seen end up on year-end lists at all was Mary Halvorson - About Ghosts, but Pitchfork didn't even have that. Dramatic downgrade from the great slate of jazz that came out last year.
