First time getting it professionally prepared. Historically I have been very close to exactly paid off.
@MaxA as in I could have gotten the same return/payment for a similar amount of work? Or do we do a trade off with hours and value? What do I pay myself hourly?
@ArtimisFowl A speedrun with taxes.cash.app or any other free prep software, then feeding the resulting draft into ChatGPT or Claude (personally, I liked better what Opus 4.6 had to say about my 2025) and following the suggestions takes surprisingly little time. You'd have to pull a pretty solid hourly rate to justify the preparer's fee.
Oh, and the last time I used one, the dummy missed a kiddie tax hit that cost me several times more than I paid him. A proper CPA, reputable and all.
