Resolution criteria
This market will resolve to YES if, at any point on or before December 31, 2070, an exoplanet is officially named after José Luis Ricón (also known as José Luis Ricón Fernández de la Puente, or his online alias "ArtirKel"). Otherwise, this market will resolve to NO.
Definition of "Officially Named": The name must be officially sanctioned, approved, and published by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), or its globally recognized successor organization responsible for astronomical nomenclature. Alphanumeric designations (e.g., HD 110067 b) do not qualify; the planet must receive a proper name (e.g., Janssen).
Qualifying Names: The official proper name must be a clear representation of him, which includes but is not limited to: "Ricon", "Jose Luis Ricon", "Artir", "Artirkel", or "Fernandez de la Puente".
Sources for Verification: Resolution will be verified using official IAU databases, such as the IAU NameExoWorlds portal or the NASA Exoplanet Archive.
Background
José Luis Ricón is a prominent independent researcher, blogger (at Nintil), and writer. He is known for his work in metascience, longevity, and progress studies, and has served as Head of Theory at Retro Biosciences.
Exoplanets are traditionally given scientific alphanumeric designations based on their host stars. However, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) occasionally runs public campaigns—such as NameExoWorlds—allowing communities and the public to propose proper names for exoplanets and their host stars.
