A ban on congressional stock seems to have bipartisan support on congress, yet congresspeople can still trade individual stocks. Congresspeople have access to a huge amount of classified information, and there’s a history of congresspeople using this information to gain a competitive advantage in the market. So, why hasn’t congress banned it?
Resolves YES if both the Senate and House pass a bill preventing members of congress from trading individual stocks.
