On May 6th, President Kornbluth announced to the MIT community that students in the pro-Palestine encampment on MIT's campus must disperse by 2:30pm the same day or be suspended. As of 2024-05-06 2:35pm, the author of this question has observed both pro-Palestine activists, MIT police, and Cambridge police in the area surrounding the encampment.
Question resolves based on an official statement from (i) MIT or Cambridge police, (ii) MIT administration, (iii) mainstream media reports, or (iv) campus media reports, with priority given in that order. If no members of the MIT community are detained, question resolves to 0-10. If more than 500 members of the MIT community are arrested, question resolves to 490-500.
"Members of the MIT community" includes undergraduate students, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, faculty, other employees, etc.
I will trade on this market.
An email from President Kornbluth suggested that there were no arrests on campus before around 6:30pm on May 6th, and MIT dormspam did not give any indication that anyone was arrested on that day. However, it appears that members of the MIT community were arrested today (May 9th), according to MIT dormspam. If no credible reports of an arrest come up before May 13th, this question will resolve to 0โ10.
