NYT has called both 🙌

predictedYES

Both of them look called; how much will the pundits talk about it???

predictedYES

@Marnix I actually didn't find them all that wild. Ohio may be a red state, but we've seen pretty consistently in previous initiatives that most voters support abortion rights and marijuana legalization, even in red states. They vote for politicians who oppose these things, but when given the opportunity to vote on abortion or marijuana alone, the voters always support them.

predictedYES

@JosephNoonan I think the projected margins on the marijuana initiative are kind of wild, actually! It's looking like both marijuana and abortion may end up at around 15% margins, despite most people expecting the marijuana question to do substantially worse - The NYT originally had question 2 at something like +12, and now there's a chance it could outperform abortion. I can smell the thinkpieces from here!

Happy to have gained 1,000 mana, but why did all the random markets collapse?

predictedYES

@Emanuele98 i think someone made a really bad bet when they saw that the marijuana initiative wasn't doing nearly as well as the abortion initiative

It's wild that in the Year-of-our-Lord 2023, Ohio chose to legalize both marijuana and abortion on the same day. A year ago, I would have thought that was very unlikely!

predictedYES

@nottelling2ccc Ohio is always behind the times. we in 2017 finally made bestiality illegal.

NYT's calling it for the other one. let's go

One down! Now for the next one

predictedYES

@Marnix only 26% of the vote is in.

@JosephMartinjr3rdcoyote That might be so, but I'm not about to doubt Wasserman

@JosephMartinjr3rdcoyote The Amendment is running ahead of Biden's 2020 performance.. Biden lost Union County Ohio with 31%; Amendment #1 is at 51%. Biden won Cuyahoga with 66%; Amendment #1 is at 78%.

predictedYES

@NicoDelon i know, i voted yes for this. I'm in Ohio. I'm just saying don't call it yet when only 26% are in, this Ohio. we like to throw curveballs the last minute.

@JosephMartinjr3rdcoyote True, it hasn’t passed yet.

predictedYES

@NicoDelon absentee ballots come in the 14th, so we have until 24th to find out.

predictedYES

@JosephMartinjr3rdcoyote nah, race calls usually incorporate absentee ballots, and these results are looking pretty substantial
