In November 2024, there was a ballot question, which passed, to allow the Massachusetts State Auditor to audit the state legislature. No such audit has happened yet, however. Previously, an audit was attempted in October 2024 and also in November 2023 but the state legislature had refused both times. A new audit attempt is currently ongoing but the legislature is still resisting.
Resolves YES if an audit of the Massachusetts state legislature is reported on this official list of all audits or in the news before midnight Eastern Time on January 20, 2027. Resolves NO otherwise. Resolves N/A if there is no state auditor or state legislature.
Auditors serve 4-year terms, and the current auditor took office in 2023, so the next auditor will be elected in November 2026 and will take office in January 2027, which makes the latter a natural close date.
