Also, a bit not-a-true-scotsmanny, but why is your Ancap friend volunteering to fight in in a war, much less Russia:Ukraine? While definitely preferable to Russia, the government of Ukraine does not have a track record as a freedom protecting country.

@BenjaminIkuta and so has the government of Ukraine, every day of it's existence (albeit likely to a lesser degree than Russia).

More power to him, but I just figure there are way better ways of getting to an ancap society than fighting to defend a mid tier government in a messy war. Seems like a good way to throw away your life for little positive EV.

@duck_master Yes, but no combat. But also, I think people tend to overestimate the importance of this. Most deaths are just getting randomly blown up, not engaging in some very skillful combat operation.
