Resolution criteria

  • This market will resolve to the player who officially wins the next Super Ballon d'Or awarded by France Football.

  • Resolution will be based on official announcements from France Football (or its associated presenting partners, such as UEFA or L'Équipe).

  • If France Football awards a structurally identical "player of the era" trophy under a slightly different name (e.g., "Ballon d'Or of the Century" or "Decade Ballon d'Or"), this market will resolve based on that award.

  • If no such award is presented or officially scheduled with a confirmed future date by December 31, 2030, this market will resolve as N/A.

Background

  • The Super Ballon d'Or is one of the rarest individual accolades in football history. It has only been awarded once—on December 24, 1989—when France Football named Real Madrid legend Alfredo Di Stéfano the best player of the previous three decades, ahead of Johan Cruyff and Michel Platini.

  • In mid-2025, France Football's official channels teased a potential return of the legendary trophy, prompting widespread debate among fans and media.

  • While rumors suggest the award could return around 2029 to mark the 40th anniversary of the original ceremony, no official date or criteria have been confirmed. Lionel Messi (8-time Ballon d'Or winner) and Cristiano Ronaldo (5-time winner) are widely cited by analysts as the primary modern contenders.
