Will I do total of 620 sessions of N-al N-back in the month of August? (320 sessions Dual N-Back and 300 Triple N-Back)

YES

It takes around 1-2 minutes to do a session. Daily training goal is 20 sessions, which can be done in around 30-40 minutes.

On odd days I do Dual N Back. (position and sound).

On even days I do Triple N Back. (position, sound and color)

To motivate myself, I'll bet 100Ṁ for yes, and I will not sell it or change my bet until resolution.

This resolves on September 1st 2025.

When it comes to average score column, this is calculated in the following way.

The score I get for each session is N-al x N-back x Percent success.

For example, if I do Dual 5 back, and get 59% success, this is 2x5x59 = 590

If I do, Triple 3 back, and get 72% success, this is 3x3x72 = 648

Average score for the day is average score for all the sessions done on that day.

Finally done! Had to do a lot of catch up in the last few days, because I missed 4 days in the middle of the month.

I completed the goal 2 hours and 15 minutes before the deadline.

It was quite a challenge but fun one. I wanted to prove to myself that I can complete a difficult, long term goal. (well, not that difficult, and not that long term, but still - unfortunately studying programming is both more difficult and more long term than this)

Thank God, I made it. It wasn't easy.

Regarding the improvement, this is not the first time ever I did N-back training, so I didn't really start from zero, especially in Dual-N-Back.

In triple N back I was more of a beginner.

The average score for first 100 sessions of Dual-N-Back was: 550.06

For the last 100 sessions it was: 607.42

In Triple-N-Back, the average score for first 100 sessions was: 492.6

For the last 100 sessions it was: 617.13

So there was more improvement in triple n back, but it was expected as I was quite new to that modality.

Also, I started feeling a bit of burnout and stagnation towards the end, and I started feeling that this is not the smart way to do this kind of training, and that I should space the sessions more, take some days off, or do it just 2-3 times a week. I even found a lot of evidence arguing for this.

But in spite of this, I decided, to pursue this goal (even if it is stupid) to the end, because I had a lot of problems completing things in the past, and giving up on things and projects, so I wanted to prove to myself that I won't give up yet again. I got stubborn. I guess it didn't hurt, but I would probably make more meaningful progress with more spaced sessions and some days off. I guess that's one of the reasons for score stagnation towards the end...

Another interesting thing is that towards the end the scores in both Dual-N-Back and Triple-N-Back as calculated according to the formula I wrote above started to converge a little above 600.

So I guess it proves theory that there is a direct trade off between the number of items you gotta track at once (Single, Dual, Triple, Quad, etc...) and number of steps in the past you gotta follow them for... (Dual-2-Back, Dual-3-Back, etc...) I had an intuition that this was the case, but I didn't have a proof. My own scores converging around the same level in 2 different modalities points in direction of this being the case.
