My ThinkPad T480 has two batteries. The "internal" one can only be replaced by partially disassembling the computer. The other one can be swapped out by pulling two latches. I'm calling the easy-to-access one the "external battery". Its part number is 01AV452. Timeline of events: April 2, 2022: Placed order for the internal battery and external battery. Both products on back order. April 7: New ETA for the back ordered items. External: 04/22/2022. Internal: 04/14/2022. April 11: New ETA for the internal battery. External: 04/22/2022. Internal: 04/12/2022. Unknown time: - External battery's product description changes from "EXTERNAL, 3C, 24WH, LIION, SMP" to "AFTER MARKET EXTERNAL, 3C, 24WH, LIIO" - External battery's ETA vanishes. - Internal battery changes from "back order" to "ship" Another unknown time: New ETA for the external battery. External: 05/12/2022 April 28 (Today): External: 5/12/2022. Internal: Still ready to be shipped. Resolution Criteria: - On the date that I can physically touch the external battery and the battery is in good condition, then the free text entry that is closest to that date will win. - If the external battery does not arrive by June 1, 2022, then I will give up on Encompass completely. The free text entry that is closest to that date will win. - If the package was accepted by a shipping company and the date the shipping company received it should have allowed enough time for the parcel to arrive before June 1, 2022, then the question resolves "ambiguous". "Accepted by a shipping company" is defined as follows: - USPS: Tracking number generated and visible by the customer. - All other shipping companies: Status update from the company that indicates that the parcel has been accepted (e.g. "origin scan"). Statuses such as "label generated" are not acceptable. Motivation: I'm trying to decide if I should pay Encompass to ship the internal battery on its own right now ($X), if I should wait for the entire order to be shipped (no additional cost), or if I should give up and assume that the external battery will never arrive ($Y savings from shopping on Amazon.com compared to Encompass + hassle of cancelling the Encompass order + risk that I can't cancel external battery part of the Encompass order*cost of external battery).
