Trump and members of the GOP have claimed that Haitian migrants have been stealing and eating pets. Are there any documented or provable cases where this is true? Police reports, convictions, videos or photographs by witnesses, etc. are acceptable proof.

ABC "fact-checking" Trump seemed weird. The mayor wouldn't want this being said of his city so he wouldn't look for and perhaps even actively avoid or delay collecting evidence so that they could claim there is no credible evidence.

Even if there is no documented evidence, doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

Also even if there is someone who claims they believe they have seen it happen, there is still chance the person is mistaken or is making it up.

What are we most interested in? Whether it is happening? or whether there is evidence by 19th Sept? or whether there was evidence when Mayor claimed there was no credible evidence? or ....?

@ChristopherRandles what is the bar that would most benefit the "Yes" cohort if we plan to steelman that bet? I'll happily accept it.

@ChristopherRandles In your example, it would be not only the mayor who is covering up a case, but also the police and a pet owner and their family at the very least. Ok, assume a % chance that a given person involved would want to hide it. Then, raise that % to the power of the number of people involved. I'll give a really generous guess for you: 75% chance ^ 10 people = 5.6%. When not everyone involved has a motive to keep quiet, a successful coverup just doesn't work. I would fall out of my chair if it were possible, with national attention on the town.

Does any instance of eating pets count, or just from before the market creation? (I don't have any evidence just want to know)

@jBosc any instance up to market close.
