  • Update 2025-01-01 (PST): - Resolution Criteria:

    • Based on the entire year's tournament results, not just WSOP results. (AI summary of creator comment)

  • Update 2025-05-06 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): The creator has indicated that the market can be resolved based on an estimation of the entire year's results if complete, final data for 2024 is not available at the time of resolution.

In this specific instance, the market was resolved YES based on such an estimation, which considered factors including:

  • Partial year data (e.g., amount won at a point in time compared to a previous year).

  • Stated changes in playing schedule (e.g., a reduction in the number of tournaments played).

I asked for any info 3 month ago. I'll check the Podcast.

ChatGPT also uncovered this nugget:

“on Episode 7 of the MANIA podcast with his wife Amanda (released December 24, 2024 and cheekily titled “Is It The End Of Us after LOSING $1,000,000?”), Daniel brings up his 2024 tournament ledger around the nine‑minute mark and flat‑out says he finished the year about a million dollars in the red. The episode description even flags the segment: “09:01  Poker insights and Daniel losing $1 million.”

@AbuElBanat Ok, sorry, I resolved it incorrectly.

chatGPT o3 estimates that DNegs paid $3.3-$3.6 million in entries, which makes him a clear net loser. He fired a lot of high roller bullets and came up empty. This resolution is almost certainly wrong, and in any case was admittedly made on a hunch with no real information in a market trading pretty near 0% before resolved to yes. At least it’s a tiny market but this was a very poor effort.

Ok... I have not complete data for 2024, but based on the amount won compared to 2023, and the stated reduction of number of tournaments, it seems very unlikely that this is negative. So I resolve YES.

For the moment there is still no self-report.

I think he is positive, as he won $2,594,686 in 2024, with 3 first places and 3 second places. He said he wanted to play less tournament so the total of buy-in he paid is likely to be less than that.

However, I'm not sure and so I don't know how should I resolve this market. If anyone have more info, or know Daniel Negreanu enough to ask him directly, please help !

I'm closing the question now. I'm expecting a self-report. If it doesn't happen we will see. This is not just WSOP results, but the whole year tournament results.

I think this is all very positive for the field, although I am a beginner myself, but this is very positive for the game as a whole. If you're also looking to get started or just explore more about poker, check out betandreas-aze.net, a great place to dive in!

@AlexBrod Question is about monetary gain, will he win more money in tournament than what it cost in "buy in". We ignore sponsoring, "selling action", potential deals between winners.

How will we know whether he's positive or negative for the year? Will we be relying on a self-report being publicizied sometime in 2025?

@Knuffa He has self-reported his loss in 2023, it is likely there will be a followup. Otherwise I will rely on public sources. We know winnings but not always how much is payed.
