I ordered a facial typing from alittlebitofpersonality.com today. I did not give alittlebitofpersonality.com any information about me other than pictures of my face.

Once I receive my result from them, I will comment on this post to let everyone know and I will resolve it 24 hours later. I will extend this market as needed if they take a long time to give me a result. I will not make any trades on this market after I have received my result.

Is their test accurate? Can you tell someone's MBTI type based on their face?

Note that alittlebitofpersonality.com claims that their typing system is NOT the same as MBTI, despite their similarities.

@ZZZZZZ What result did it give?

@EvanDaniel I didn't get any response at all ...

@ZZZZZZ Oh no! How boring!

New Market

Similar to this one but for ISFP(ij)

@ZZZZZZ I mean similar to this one:

How can we predict what they will guess from your face if we can't see your face?

@Yev account activity? perhaps I will give everyone the pictures I sent them, I'll have to think about it.

From their site:

And yet, over and over, it’s an uphill battle to remind people who order typings that we are not MBTI, that we do not use those definitions, as we’ve said so many times in so many posts.  Whenever we send out a typing, we always caution people that if they look up their Cognitive Type online, then they are going to find things that are very different, and likely demeaning and limiting.  And yet we still get replies of people saying “No I can’t be this type, because here’s what MBTI says about it, and that’s not me.”

@EMcNeill Seems like this makes the premise of the market invalid? It at least warrants a note in the description, IMO.

@EMcNeill Yeah, I think when they say it is different from what is online, they just mean because what you find on the internet is often wrong or low quality. They wrote an article about how they type people, here. After reading that, I concluded that their system doesn't really differentiate itself in any substantive way from the MBTI. That said, I think a disclaimer could be helpful for all the people that go onto their page and see "ALBOP IS NOT MBTI" and think this market seems a bit fishy. Do you have a suggestion for what I could put?

@ZZZZZZ Looking at the linked article about how they type people, I think they *do* differentiate themselves from the MBTI. But I want to skip over that disagreement and just note that the “ALBOP IS NOT MBTI” post states very directly, explicitly, and repeatedly that… well, that ALBOP is not MBTI.

I think you should put something in the description like: “Note that ALBOP.com claims that their typing system is NOT the same as MBTI, despite its similarities”. And maybe link their explanation?

@EMcNeill Yeah, I guess see your point. They do say that they think that extrovert/introvert is a matter of whether you are inward focused or outward focused, while the MBTI says that's more a matter of whether you like to be the center of attention or whatever so I guess there are some differences there. And same with perceiver/judger, for them, it's a matter of whether you act first or look for information first, where the MBTI says it's about whether you're flexible or organized. So, I see your point. That said, I think the core question is still quite interesting which is can you figure out from my face what my behavior will be but I guess the way the question is phrased could be a bit lacking in information for people so I apologize. Anyway, I updated the description to mention that. I think I'm going to think about more whether those things are actually the same or whether they are talking about different characteristics.

can you figure out from my face what my behavior will be

Yes. If you show me your face I can predict at least some aspects of your behavior better than chance, such as whether you ||shave your facial hair||. (Yes, I know that's not what you meant 😝)

@Yev I've decided I'm not actually going to release pictures of my face to you guys. The information you can use is a) the fact that I think my type is ENTJ(ip) and b) my account activity.

@ZZZZZZ how strongly do you think the type is ENTJ over INTJ, can you say?

@firstuserhere aka

do you feel recharged and more energetic after social interactions

Or

Do you feel relatively drained by social interactions and need to have some alone time to recharge

@firstuserhere I am ~95% sure I am E not I.

@ZZZZZZ of course ENTJ is the most bought option but I'm going to take a position on ENTP because i know someone who's ENTP from online tests and used to call themselves more of an ENTJ.

@firstuserhere I think that comes from ENTJs overcompensating with their J so when the tests ask questions like "Are you spontaneous?" they are inclined to answer yes. I also usually scored ENTP on tests whenever I did them.

@ZZZZZZ true true. I myself did many of these tests once and got INTJ mostly but sometimes INTP for the same reason

@firstuserhere If I had to bet on another type, I would bet on ISFP since I'm starting to wonder if I'm actually an ISFP and I just use ENTJ subconscious to protect myself from social engineering.

This video talks about that possibility.

@firstuserhere or to be more specific, I just find that ENTJ works better for everything so even if I am an ISFP inside, I just find it makes more sense to put on an ENTJ mask.

@ZZZZZZ In that case, would you expect the facial typing to more identify who you are inside, or the mask you present to the world?

Also, is it possible that you only “mask” a few personality traits, such that you might be an ENTJ mask over, say, an INTP or ESFJ inside?

@EMcNeill Yes, that is definitely an interesting question. I would probably expect it would show who I really I am inside but I definitely think there is a chance that it would come back with whatever personality I am acting as in the moment. As for the other mask, the way I came up with ISFP is I just tried to think back to a situation where I had to make a decision in the past and thought about how I made it. I wasn't trying to get all the letters to swap per se, it just sorta happened. Well, all except (ij). I think if there is one thing I am like 95% confident about, it is that I am an (ij).
