It ain't ever as bad as it seems in those moments. Think of it like a strong negativity bias. In those moods, all you can remember is all your bad memories, the reasons why there's no point to trying.
Funny thing is, when you're happy, there's the opposite bias. You can only remember your successes and the reasons to feel excited for the future. You can't remember the bad bits.
When I'm in a bad mood, I usually try to exhaust myself. Jogging a couple miles with a sprint at the end usually does the trick. Or bicycling. I like bicycling. It's sort of like meditating, it resets things
Whatever you do, don't do nothing. Make a list of things that might help and try them all one by one. Be smart. You're smart, right? You can outthink depression.
