How much did your septoplasty for a deviated septum resolve the issue?
No bounty left

I recently underwent my second surgery for a deviated septum and, once again, I'm concerned that it won't address my inability to breathe properly through both nostrils due to a blockage on the right side. I'm interested in hearing about others' experiences.

I'm now two weeks post-surgery and aware that there's still significant healing required.

It helped me a ton! I've had nasal congestion for most of my adult life. Got a septoplasty last year and I can breathe much better now.

One interesting indicator is: when I drink from my water bottle while on an exercise bike, I don't end up gasping for air. (Before the septoplasty, any moments when my mouth was full of water meant I couldn't breathe. Now, I can breathe through my nose instead.)

I think one thing that helped my recovery a lot was that I was very diligent about nasal rinsing during the weeks after surgery. In my 2-weeks-later visit, the surgeon said that it looked like I'd gotten all the clots out thoroughly, which supposedly helps limit scarring afterward.

Got stents removed today after two weeks, now a lot more optimistic about my recovery and potential. Doctor told me he removed more bone than the first time to prevent 'bone memory'. So this second time should be my last time 💫
