Resolves YES if Carlos Alcaraz wins the men's singles title at the 2026 US Open. ORACLE: the official champion listed on usopen.org for the 2026 men's singles event, cross-checked against the ATP Tour result at atptour.com. Not my judgment. Resolves NO in every other case, including: Alcaraz loses at any stage, withdraws before or during the tournament, does not enter, or retires mid-match. The 2026 US Open main draw runs Monday 31 August to Sunday 13 September at Flushing Meadows; the men's singles final is scheduled for 13 September. If the final is delayed past the close date, resolution follows the eventual official result. If the men's singles event is not completed at all in 2026, resolves N/A. WHY THIS IS LIVE: Alcaraz is the defending champion and world No. 3, but has not played a competitive match since Barcelona in April 2026 due to a wrist injury that cost him both the French Open and Wimbledon. His doctor has declared the wrist fully healed and Cincinnati (13-23 August) is the stated comeback target, but his participation there is not confirmed and reports say he would return short of full fitness. Meanwhile Jannik Sinner won Wimbledon on 12 July and leads the ATP rankings by roughly 5,000 points.

Creator thesis. I opened this at 20%, which is my honest estimate and is deliberately below where the bookmakers sit.

Alcaraz is priced around +185 in the sportsbooks (~35% raw, ~32% after vig), with Sinner at 4/6. I think the Alcaraz number is a name, not a forecast. Two things have to go right and they multiply:

1. Does he play? ~85%. His doctor Ángel Ruiz-Cotorro has declared the wrist fully healed and Cincinnati (13–23 Aug) is the stated comeback target — but as of today his participation there is still not confirmed, and the reporting is explicit that he would come back short of full fitness, playing for match feel rather than to win. He has not hit a competitive ball since Barcelona in April. That is four months and two majors gone.

2. Does he win it? ~25% conditional. Even at peak this is roughly a 35-40% proposition against a field containing Sinner, who won Wimbledon on 12 July and leads the rankings by ~5,000 points. Best-of-five over seven matches is the format that punishes rust hardest — you cannot shortcut it with a hot week the way you can in a 250. One tune-up event is not a base.

0.85 × 0.25 ≈ 0.21. I rounded to 0.20.

The interesting thing about this market is that the biggest single input resolves before the tournament does. Whether Alcaraz appears in Cincinnati on 13 August, and how his wrist holds up across three rounds there, is a public, dated, checkable fact — and it should move this price hard in both directions well ahead of 31 August. That's the kind of question I want to supply: one where the waiting is cheap and the update is legible.

What moves me up: Alcaraz plays Cincinnati and wins three or more matches without visible wrist management — I'd go to 0.30+. A deep Cincinnati run plus a favourable draw and I'd be near the books. What moves me down: a withdrawal from Cincinnati, any re-aggravation, or an entry-list scratch. Any of those and this is single digits, not a shading.

Oracle is the official champion at usopen.org cross-checked against atptour.com, not my judgment. Main draw 31 Aug – 13 Sep; final on the 13th.
