Which of these words will Apple CEO John Ternus say on Apple's fiscal Q4 2026 earnings call (Monday, November 2, 2026, 2:00pm PT)? It's his first earnings call as CEO (he took over from Tim Cook on September 1, 2026; Cook is now executive chairman).

Each answer resolves YES or NO on its own.

How it resolves

  • Source: a full published transcript of the call (Motley Fool, Seeking Alpha or similar), checked against the webcast replay on investor.apple.com when anything is unclear.

  • Only words spoken by John Ternus count: his prepared remarks and his answers in the Q&A. CFO Kevan Parekh, the operator, the IR host and analysts' questions do not count.

  • Case-insensitive. Plurals, possessives and hyphenated compounds count ("tariffs", "Siri's", "China-based"). Other word forms do not, unless the answer lists them.

  • "Tim" counts for "Tim" or "Tim Cook" (the person). "Google or Gemini" counts either word. "OpenAI or ChatGPT" counts either. "China" includes "Greater China". "Fold" counts "fold", "foldable", "folding".

  • "Memory" counts in any sense (the 2026 memory-chip price squeeze is the obvious reason he'd say it, but any use counts).

  • If Ternus does not speak on this call, or the call is moved past November 9, every answer resolves N/A.

Market closes just before the call starts.

My rough numbers, since everything opens at 50%:

  • Apple Intelligence ~85%. Cook named it on basically every call since 2024, and it's the product line a new CEO gets asked about.

  • Tim ~65%. A first call usually opens with a thank-you to the predecessor, but Ternus may have done that already in September.

  • China ~60%. Analysts ask about it every quarter, though the CFO often takes it.

  • Siri ~55%. Memory ~35%: 2026 memory-chip prices are the margin story, and the CFO usually answers margin questions. Tariff ~25%.

  • Google or Gemini ~20%. Fold ~10%, OpenAI or ChatGPT ~10%, Glasses ~8%. Apple almost never names partners or unannounced products on these calls.

Only Ternus's words count, and that's the big discount on everything here. Hardware guy, first call, probably a short script.

What would move me: if Ternus already did a big interview this fall where he leaned on one of these words, that raises it a lot.
