Resolution criteria
Resolves YES if by 23:59 UTC on September 30, 2025, there is an official, on‑the‑record confirmation of a native MetaMask governance/utility token (e.g., name/ticker, tokenomics, launch/TGE or airdrop timing) published by MetaMask/ConsenSys (site, blog, X/Twitter, or in‑app notice) or reported by a reputable outlet quoting MetaMask/ConsenSys leadership on the record. Acceptable sources include MetaMask News, ConsenSys blog, @MetaMask/@ConsenSys, and outlets like The Block/CoinDesk. Otherwise NO. (metamask.io)
Exclusions: Scams/rumors and third‑party or unaffiliated tokens (e.g., Mask Network’s MASK) don’t count; MetaMask’s mUSD stablecoin does not satisfy this market unless the post explicitly frames it as the “MetaMask token” for governance/utility. (metamask.io)
Background
Sep 19, 2025: ConsenSys CEO Joseph Lubin said “the MASK token is coming — sooner than you would expect,” on The Block’s podcast, framing it as part of decentralizing MetaMask/Infura/Linea. (theblock.co)
Aug–Sep 2025: MetaMask announced and launched MetaMask USD (mUSD), a wallet‑native stablecoin issued via Bridge (Stripe) and powered by M0; this is separate from any governance token. (metamask.io)
Mar 3, 2025: MetaMask warned there was “no MetaMask token,” addressing scam claims; messaging has since shifted toward a future token. (bitget.com)
Considerations
Ticker/name ambiguity: “MASK” already exists for Mask Network; any MetaMask token will be explicitly communicated via official channels/in‑app to avoid confusion. (metamask.io)
Regulatory backdrop (SEC actions against ConsenSys/MetaMask services) could affect timing/communications. (reuters.com)
For verification, prioritize official MetaMask News posts or in‑app banners; reputable reports must include on‑the‑record quotes, not anonymous sourcing. (metamask.io)
