I'm thinking of a thing. You have a week and at most 20 Yes-or-No questions to figure out exactly what thing it is.

If you get it right, you win!

I've put in a few questions, but you'll have to add your own from here on out.

The Rules

A couple of times per day at my discretion, I'll answer two unresolved questions about the thing by resolving each: the valid question that is bet the highest and the valid question that is bet the lowest (except "WILL YOU WIN?", which resolves at the end of the game).

Valid questions are those that can be resolved YES or NO and are new info. They don't need to be properly written, but it must be clear to me what's going on. Examples:

"Is it round?"

"ball"

"uhh i think maybe its the eiffel tower"

"is it a DOG or a CAT?!?" ⚠️ but careful, this one would be answered YES or NO without further explanation

If there's tricky compound logic, multiple questions in one, it's a troll answer, or I just can't understand the intent of it clearly, it isn't a valid question and will either be ignored or resolved N/A with prejudice.

However, if it's valid but I feel neither YES or NO is wholly correct, I will resolve PROB and not count it as one of your 20.

Resolution

🎉 If one of the questions I answer is the thing: 🎉

  • WILL YOU WIN? resolves YES

  • Bonus: M$200 prize to the person whose question got it right

😭 If you don't guess the exact thing within 20 answers: 😭

  • WILL YOU WIN? resolves NO

All remaining questions will resolve N/A.

If you liked this, come play Guess Who! https://manifold.markets/oh/guess-who?r=b2g

Wow looks like we got in 19! Nice job everyone!

I made a slightly different variation of this:

Is it a basket?

Congrats, you win! It's a basket!

Shump, I'll send you the prize rn. According to playground rules, as winner you're also welcome to run the next round if you'd like.

How'd we all feel about this game? Any tweaks?

@Stralor Whoah! Didn't expect to win. I'm surprised all the questions I added were spot on. I'll see about running the next round. I definitely need to think of a better way for how questions will be chosen before I do. I think something like choosing the ones closest to 50%, as that means they're the most informative? But that's a problem because that encourages not betting as well as submitting at the last moment.

@Shump looks like @MrLuke255 jumped on it, but definitely coordinate with him. I think it's fair if you call dibs on the round after that, or you could do a simultaneous round. your call! and definitely run it however it makes sense to you! :)

@Stralor I started working on my copy before you resolved this one, didn't think that you will be awarding a possibility to run the next round 😅

oh hey we won

@lag WAIT I SOLD MY WILL WE WIN SHARES 🤡

@lag o ye of little faith

Hey all, I know this offer is late in the game but maybe it makes a difference. If you have legit questions you'd like submitted but don't want to front the subsidy, I'm happy to put them in myself. Feel free to drop them here and I (or another user) might add them for you.

@Stralor Is it primarily used for storage? (If that resolves yes, my guesses in order of likelihood would be box, cabinet, drawer, shelf)

@oh added

@Stralor Is it a box? Is it a cabinet?

@oh you don't like the more specific "cupboard" rather than "cabinet"? I'll add them

bought Ṁ5 of Answer #d15ae64d526d YES

@Stralor Oh okay dont add cabinet

@Stralor lol you just did

@oh now it's N/A

@Stralor If the answer is a cupboard and we guess cabinet, you wouldn’t consider it a win?

@oh while they are technically distinct I'd let it pass, especially bc of subtle differences in dialects

@Stralor I wouldn't have N/A'd it if the synonym wasn't "good enough" imo

me realizing there exist ladders without mechanical parts 🤡

@lag ladders more or less the size of bread boxes?!

@Stralor I need to think through my questions more 🌚

there's only two options left 😭

bought Ṁ30 of Answer #eb490eced119 NO

@lag I’d add more, but I kept losing mana so I gave up.

@lag three! but yeah only two to narrow before you gotta guess

@Stralor oh I meant there were two options in the market, but if there's two tries left then that makes sense lol

@oh did you really lose mana? you should silently be getting the remaining subsidy refunded when they close. unless you're losing mana on the bets, I suppose?

@lag and I counted again, I'm wrong. you have 5 guesses left

bought Ṁ20 of does it involve mech... NO

@Stralor Guess cuz it’s silent I didn’t realize that’s how it works. And yeah, also lost on the bets when trying to make useful options the highest and lowest and quark questions in the middle.

@Stralor omg that's such a w I thought there was no way anyone could get it in two guesses
