We're playing a semi-cooperative variant of Assassin designed for Manifold, and I'll be awarding prizes! Want to join? Add yourself to this market and when the game starts I'll assign you an identity and a target.

Last player standing wins, with opportunities to get prizes along the way.

This market closes at the end of the joining phase, and will reopen when all players get an identity. Once the game kicks off, it resolves each player as they get eliminated. See Resolution for details.

Attacking

To eliminate your target, first:

  • Break (finish filling) any of their limit orders on the site posted in the last 24h

  • React bet exactly 86 mana on one of their comments (on any market) posted within the last 24h that doesn't have react bets on it already

  • Or send them at least 20 mana (compounding, see next bullet) via managram with the line "Attacking [their card]"

  • (Any managram attack must be at least 20 mana more than the largest managram attack or block that you or your target has done so far, whether it was successful or not -- that means a large managram attack/ block makes future ones more expensive but is also somewhat protective)

Then:

  • Post proof here and declare the attack, saying who and what exact card you're attacking (e.g. "Ace of Spades", "Red Joker", "2♣")

  • I'll confirm whether they were your target at my earliest convenience (I'll try to keep it same day when possible)

  • If you're right, they are eliminated and you inherit their target

  • If you're wrong, your card is publicly revealed

  • After the attack is resolved, you may sell any position you earned. Selling it before then invalidates the attack! I may check trade logs, and players are also encouraged to police this themselves

  • If you're eliminated your attacks are, of course, invalid

  • You may post up to 1 of each attack type on a target at a time

Blocking

In addition to any tricky ways of avoiding attacks, you can directly block them if you're fast enough by hitting them back with a different valid attack type and posting proof in a reply to their attack comment before I resolve it. You don't need to guess their card, but if you do and you're right I'll reveal their identity.

Blocked attacks don't penalize the attacker in any other way and don't prevent them from striking again later.

Setup

Players are given a secret card from a standard 54-card deck, which represents their identity. They are welcome to share this information, or lie about it, if they please. Players' ranks (card values) will be revealed over time in [Assassin Identity Market].

They're also given a target card, representing another player in the game.

Each suit (Spades, Clubs, Hearts, and Diamonds) is a "team." A player's first target is guaranteed to be from another team, but after that anything goes. Players will know who is on their team (but not their specific cards).

When a player is eliminated, their identity is revealed and their target is given to their eliminator to continue the chain.

Any Jokers in the game receive no starting targets and can be eliminated by any player at any time, but they likewise can eliminate any other player with a valid attack and a correct card declaration. Jokers can break the chain! Eliminating the Joker gives you whatever targets they've unlocked along the way. Jokers have no team, and I will lie about their ranks in the identity market.

I expect we'll have ~10 players, so no card is guaranteed to be in the game, but in the rare circumstance that we have more than 54 players we'll start duplicating cards. If there are multiple players who have your target card as their identity, you can eliminate any one of them.

Resolution

Each player in this market is sorted into a quarter based on when they're eliminated. Quarters round to the nearest player number (e.g. if there are ten players, nine will be eliminated so the buckets are the first 2, 5, 7, and 9).

  • The first quarter of eliminated players resolve 0%

  • The second quarter resolve 10%

  • The third quarter resolve 25%

  • The fourth quarter resolves 50%

  • The winner resolves 100%

Prizes:

  • Winning the game: 1000 mana

  • On the winning team: 100 mana

  • Eliminating 3 players: 200 mana (repeatable)

  • Eliminating a Joker: 500 mana (repeatable)

Notes:

  • Breaking limit orders might be hard to prove! I recommend posting before and after screenshots, at minimum, and even that might end up being insufficient.

  • Collusion, subterfuge, and sabotage between players is allowed and encouraged.

You're welcome to make derivative markets about this game. Share them in the comments! You can also add prop bets directly here before the game starts by following the format "[PROP]".

Please restrict public chatter about the game to the designated discord thread, this market, and any derivatives of this market. A bit of chaos across the site by trading aggressively on other markets is fine, but we don't want to spam serious markets or discord channels with random game noise.
