Resolution criteria

This market resolves to "YES" if the Rivian R2 receives an "IIHS Top Safety Pick+" award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It resolves to "NO" if the vehicle is tested but fails to achieve the "Top Safety Pick+" designation, or if the IIHS explicitly announces it will not test the vehicle, or if the vehicle is not released by December 31, 2027.

The definitive source for resolution is the official IIHS vehicle ratings database. Awards are typically announced upon the completion of a vehicle's crash testing and evaluation cycle.

Background

The Rivian R2 is a smaller, more affordable SUV scheduled for production, with initial deliveries expected in the first half of 2026. The IIHS evaluates vehicles based on crashworthiness (how well a vehicle protects its occupants in a crash) and crash avoidance and mitigation (systems like automatic emergency braking). To qualify for the highest "Top Safety Pick+" award, a vehicle must achieve "Good" ratings in all crashworthiness tests, "Advanced" or "Superior" ratings for front crash prevention, and acceptable or good headlight ratings across all trims.
