I am rotund. Quite rotund indeed. But, I would like to be healthy. The question is simple: Will I weight more or less than 200 lbs on the first day of the new year? The question will resolve on January 1st, 2025. If I weigh more than 200 lbs I will resolve NO. If I weigh less than 200 lbs I will resolve YES.

  • Dietary Change: CICO, Cut Out Added Sugars and Processed Junk

  • Exercise: Lifting MWF + Daily Cardio

  • Health: No health conditions other than being fat.

You are off to a great start and have plenty of time to lose the weight at the slow and stead rate of 1 lb every 4 days. Don't mind the weekly cycles and keep focused on the weekly trends.

If you just started exercising your body may start retaining more water weight, which could be discouraging. Just stick with it!

It's Wednesday, what lifts are we doing today?

Squat, bench press, overhead press, curls, and dumbbell rows. I’m open to lifting program recommendations. I’ve done Stronglifts 5x5 in the past, but right now I’m just doing lifts I enjoy. I mostly just want to try to maintain lean muscle mass while in a deficit so I don’t come out of this looking like a stick figure.

• 1 pound of body weight is roughly equivalent to 3500 calories.

• Total calorie deficit needed: 37.4 lbs x 3500 calories/lb = 130,900 calories
• Total days: From July 8, 2024, to January 1, 2025 is approximately 177 days.
• Daily calorie deficit: 130,900 calories / 177 days ≈ 740 calorie deficit below TDEE per day

I have faith you can do it
You will need a calorie tracker app (Cronometer or MyFitnessPal) and a food scale (cheap on Amazon).
You should expect and welcome feeling hungry, but that means it's working.
