I was hired as a Sr Business Analyst at a private growth-stage FinTech in March 2023. Since being hired, I've received glowing performance reviews from my manager and colleagues. The work I've done has directly translated into both cost-savings and additional revenue for the company. In my 6 month evaluation I was told that I was the best hire for the company in the past 12 months and that I was top 5 in the company for best strategic understanding of the business.

January is when the company typically does compensation reviews. I will have been with the company for just under a year at that point. How much do you think I will be offered in a raise on my base compensation?

Exceeds expectations in all categories.

No performance increase.

No CoL increase.

They’re saying it was a blanket policy for the whole company this cycle due to the company missing its financial targets.

It’s fucked up.

@SpaceboyLuke Ouch, that blows, sorry to hear that.

@tbrnichols Honestly feels like golden handcuffs. I always keep an eye on new job listings and the listings I’m seeing out there at my same level position aren’t paying as much as I’m making already. I think I’ll have to ride it out and fight for a mid-cycle bump.

Confirmed that my comp review meeting will be next Friday, Feb 23

Latest word from my manager is that comp review will happen either the last week in January or first week of February. I’ll keep you guys posted.

Do you get paid solely by salary? Or, do you get an annual bonus in January like a lot of finance?

If bonus, is that part of this bet?

@Ryan3 I’ll get my bonus in December and no I’m not including this in my raise. The bet is explicitly for a raise in my base comp.

@SpaceboyLuke Thanks for the clarification. Placing my bet on a moderate raise (5ish), just because you are still relatively new. But, I think you'll get a decent bonus for retention.

Appreciating the early optimism 😊
