Here's the context:
I was heading into work (it's kind of a work/study thing) where this guy I have a crush on (barely know him, he's in my dnd group) was chatting with a bunch of other people. At one point they were joking about weaponizing a project to launch Lawn Darts, to which I chimed in that my parents actually owned some.
At which point he LOOKED ME DEAD IN THE EYE and said "That explains so much".
I have absolutely no clue where the hell that line of thought came from, so I figured I'd ask manifold. If I'm unable to get an answer by the end of the semester (and this market has no "You won't get an answer" response), I'll resolve N/A. Otherwise I'll pick the answer closest to the truth.
I am willing to answer questions in the comments.

Re: my “no deeper meaning” answer: this is based on my own experience of trying to be funny. Sometimes you spit out a line that seems like it would work, and then the moment passes and you realize it did not. Usually these are somewhat generic or flexible quips that imply there’s a humorous connection but leave it up to the listener to actually identify it. “That explains a lot!” is a classic of this genre. Use it anywhere!
If this is the case, then if you asked him what he meant, I’d expect him to give a vague or disorganized or answer, or else to be embarrassed that you remembered his somewhat failed off-the-cuff quip.
